Edit BIOS to Disable Watchdog Timer
For ProxyRA to operate correctly, it should have the Watchdog Timer BIOS setting disabled. Some other operating systems enable this setting so that the appliance is restarted if for some reason the operating system does not send any signals to the hardware. For ProxyRA this feature is not used, so leaving Watchdog Timer setting enabled may cause unnecessary restarts of the appliance. Perform these steps only if you have ProxySG chassis. For ProxyRA and Director this setting is already disabled.
- Install VGA card. This requires removing the top lid from the appliance. Insert the VGA card and leave it open.
- Hook up monitor and keyboard. Monitor is attached to the VGA card, and keyboard — to one of the USB ports at the back of the appliance.
- Power up.
- Enter the BIOS screen. For 810 models keep hitting F2 until it comes up, for 510 models use DEL.
- Go to Advanced > Advanced Chipset > Watchdog timer (or Integrated Peripherals > Super IO Device > WatchDog Timer ).
- Change its falue from 6 min to disabled.
- Save/Exit BIOS changes by pressing F10.
- Power down.
- Remove VGA card and reattach the top lid.
